Britney Spears has died, at least according to her Twitpic account on Sunday. This turned out to be false along with information being sent out from Ellen DeGeneres TwitPic account, because someone had broke into the two accounts and began sending out false information from them.
Twitpic is a service that allows Twitter uses to share photos. While TwitPic isn’t owned by Twitter, it is a widely used service but apparently has flaws of its own.
Twitpic informed users Sunday to disregard false messages from Spears’ account and said that they were implementing a fix to the vulnerability immediately. We tried reaching them and none of our emails were returned.
We are all vulnerable this day and age, especially when you use third-party services. Once the information is no longer stored on your computer and is in the cloud, the security is completely out of your hands and opens your information up to be exploited and hacked. This will probably never change. Long as your information is connected to the web, it will be vulnerable.
Twitpic is currently looking to hire a Software/Systems Engineer according to the Twitpic blog. Perhaps they should also be looking for a software engineer with a great security background as well?

Britney Spears appears to have become engaged to latest love Jason Trawick.
The pop princess, 27, was seen flaunting a large diamond ring on the fourth finger of her left hand yesterday.
Dressed in a casual yellow top and ripped denim hotpants, the star appeared to be conscious of her new accessory, holding her hand at an angle in order to show it off.
She was looking happy and relaxed as she and Trawick, 37, stepped out together in Los Angeles yesterday, smiling, but refusing to confirm or deny the news.
The couple’s relationship was only confirmed earlier this month, but the couple are believed to have been dating for several months.
They made their first public appearance together at the end of May at a party for fashion designer Christian Audiger.
They were also spotted looking close on a Caribbean holiday last month, along with Britney’s father Jamie, brother Bryan and sons Sean Preston, three, and Jayden James, two.
The troubled star’s family are believed to have given the relationship their seal of approval after a string of failed relationships including paparazzo Adnan Ghalib and ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Confirming their romance, a source said: ‘They are totally and definitely dating. Her dad loves him. He’s the best thing that happened to her.’
The source added that the pair were ‘very sweet together’, telling how Britney had ‘always had a crush on Trawick’, who is one of her brother Bryan’s best friends.
‘He makes Britney really happy, and he’s great with the boys,’ the source said.
